We were blessed to be able to come to Hope Cottage for our Honeymoon. We loved the amazing view and its tucked away location…We hope to come back to this cottage in the future. Thank you for a honeymoon paradise. Ethan and Edie – July 2014.

Once we stayed at Hope Cottage we were hocked. We’ve returned five times. Hope Cottage has become our favorite spot in the Caribbean. While my wife can sleep as late as she likes because the shutters keep the bedroom dark, I awaken, make coffee and enjoy breakfast and view on the deck next to the private pool. When she gets up we read or play Scrabble until driving a short distance to a beach or Philipsburg. Marigot and Grand Case are a bit further. Hope Cottage is convenient, relaxing and beautiful. There are many wonderful restaurants nearby. The only thing we miss is that before the Westin Hotel was built, Dawn Beach had a wonderful beach bar named Scavenger’s. We’ve recommended it to friends. Larry and Lois – May 2014.

Irene and I would like to take this opportunity to tell you what a fabulous time we had in St Martin, and especially at your place! The view overlooking the ocean was breathtaking! Our accommodations exceeded our expectations! I grieved that we had to come back to "reality" and leave! Please post this to your web site!!! We want everyone to know how awesome Hope Cottage is!!! Thank You! Vlad and Irene – May 2014.

It is truly a wonderful think that you are sharing this very private villa…We loved the pool! Making a point of taking a dip at least once each day. Kath and Eric – April 2014.

I’m a chef in Minneapolis, so we loved the well-appointed kitchen…Grilled many nights & ate on the veranda almost every meal. Kate and Jessie – March 2014.

My husband and I stayed at your home for our honeymoon and enjoyed every second. The view is amazing, the amenities were perfect and we enjoyed swimming in the pool. We will for sure recommend Hope Cottage to others. Ann and Jeff – December, 2013.

We had a wonderful stay at Hope Cottage. The listing description was accurate regarding the rentals appearance, amenities and location. The property was very clean and well maintained. The owner was very hospitable and helpful in answering all our questions - even calling to make sure everything was going well. We would and have recommended this property highly - we hope to return. We loved the location overlooking Oyster Bay - and found it convenient to Orient Bay as well as Marigot and Grand Case. Oyster Bay itself had 4 restaurants we liked and a little grocery store to buy coffee and fresh croissants and muffins. Lisa – March 2013.

From the moment we began our arrangements with the owners, everything has exceeded our expectations. While the photos are beautiful, the views and villa itself are even more beautiful and spacious, with great separation of spaces (living room and full bath at one end, kitchen in the middle and master bedroom and full bath at the other end), cathedral ceilings, surrounded by windows and French doors that offer up wonderful light and breathtaking views. The kitchen is so well equipped there is even a springform pan! The property is very secure. There is a gate at the road leading up to the villa with a 24/7 security guard, and then another gate operated by your remote control, then a locked gate to the entrance to the property, and all the doors have keyed locks and all the windows and doors have electrically controlled exterior rolling shutters from top to bottom. Our host arranged a great rate on a car rental with Empress, which has a kiosk at the airport and takes you via van to its lot where you pick up your car and where we were met by an agent from ReMax who took us to Hope Cottage). The housekeeper is available every day but we really only asked her to come one day, and the pool/gardner comes 2/3 times during the week and keeps the grounds looking luscious. Our hosts also suggested restaurants, which we can also recommend: Infinity at Oyster Bay Beach Resort (just down the hill when you want a good meal close by), Tropicana in Marigot, Bachus at Hope Estate between Orient Bay Beach and Grand Case (tres expensive but tops), L'Oasis in Oyster Pond, and one we discovered, Palm Beach at Orient Beach. The villa is impeccably clean and well maintained. The pool is beautiful, but with the constant cool breezes/wind, it was too cool for us to go in. It is always delightfully cool there, with ceiling fans in every room. Now for the road in/out. The road is rough and VERY steep and has a couple of quick double hair pin turns that had us cringing at first but then laughing our way up and down. We never felt comfortable enough to navigate the road at night (we're both 71, not frail and quite adventurous otherwise) but that just meant big lunches out and cozy dinners in which we loved cooking in that fabulous kitchen, looking down on the twinkling lights of Oyster Bay. What a fabulous week. What helpful hosts! Would we recommend this villa to friends and relatives? You bet! Would we go back? We're already figuring out when. Genie and Mark – February 2013.

I arrived at Hope Cottage and the view was much more than you see on the website. It was stunning. I stayed there ten days and I think John and Susan have some of the best views on the island. I needed a quiet get away but still wanted reasonable access to the rest of the island beaches and all that it had to offer. Hope Cottage had that and more. Drink a cup of coffee on the deck and watch the sun come up over Dawn Beach. The breeze in the afternoon keeps the temperatures tropical. I really felt like I was on top of the island. From the car you walk through the lush garden to the cottage. On the beach side it totally opens up over Oyster Pond to the eastern Atlantic and Caribbean. It is really an enchanting place and fits right in as a tropical hide away. The management staff were as friendly as can be and made me feel right at home. The cottage was so comfortable it was several days before I made it out to tour the island. It had everything you need. If you like to cook pay a visit to a grocery store and bakery on the French side and you wont have to leave the house, or visit one of the many restaurants within a few minutes drive. Mike – January 2013.

We greatly enjoyed our vacation in St. Maarten and especially our experience at this villa. It provided some unforgettable memories. Perched high atop one of the many dramatic hillsides, this property features beautiful, panoramic views of Oyster Bay and Dawn Beach. Walking through the garden entrance with flowers/plant life on both sides, you immediately get a sense of privacy and solitude. The accommodations inside are nicely done - spacious master bedroom with en suite, adequate kitchen, comfortable living room, etc. But clearly the star of the show is the outdoor space, as is appropriate for an island vacation. There is an expansive terrace and balcony area on one side, part shaded and part open, and a charming little pool on the other side. The best of the vacation was waking up to those views, taking a dip in the pool and relaxing outside all day long. The trade winds provide a nice balance to the sunshine and the views are spectacular.

At the same time, there are plenty of nearby shops, restaurants and beaches that are just a quick drive from the villa. We liked having the views, peace and quiet while still being close enough to the action when you want to venture out. It's a great combination that we would highly recommend! Charlie – March 2012.

"Our stay at Hope Cottage far exceeded expectations! The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome by leaving a fruit basket upon our arrival and arranging for the property agent to meet us at the home to familiarize us with the property and the island including beach and restaurant recommendations.

The house has all the amenities you could ask for including a full kitchen, outdoor gas grill, swimming pool, outdoor and indoor eating areas and cable. The property has incredible views and is close to beautiful beaches (Dawn beach, at the bottom of the hill, was our daily spot). The highlight of our trip was going on a snorkeling trip with Captain Alan's Snorkeling Adventure which was conveniently located a short 5 minute drive from the house. We cannot wait to go back to Hope Cottage!" --Leah and Andrew, March 2011
